The S&P BSE 100 Index was at 19,841.9 (down 0.6%). The index is up 0.6% over the last 30 days. And over the last 1 year, it has gained 10.9%.

Within the BSE 100 Index, the top gainers were HCL TECHNOLOGIES (up 3.2%) and IRCTC (up 2.5%). On the other hand, ZEE ENTERTAINMENT (down 5.1%) and INFO EDGE (down 4.1%) were among the top losers.

Which are the other important indices one should track?

Well, it depends on what your goals are.

Having said that, the two key indices to track are the BSE Sensex which contains the list of BSE 30 stocks and the NSE Nifty which contains the list of NSE 50 stocks.

However, these two indices are considered to be too narrow by some, since they only track 30 and 50 stocks, respectively.

For broader tracking, you could use the BSE 200, BSE 500 or even the NSE 500 index.

Some popular market cap based indices include BSE Smallcap index and BSE Midcap index, among others.
